BEAD Challenge Process Update
Headline: BEAD Challenge Process Prepares to Move into Rebuttal Phase
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has closed the Challenge Phase of the BEAD Challenge Process and is preparing to open the Rebuttal Phase on September 16, 2024. The Rebuttal Phase is intended to help the state determine which locations are eligible for BEAD funding. Service providers that have received challenges will be able respond with rebuttal evidence, and any registered challengers will be able to provide rebuttal evidence that may change the status of a location within a service provider’s coverage areas or their Enforceable Commitments.
All eligible entities (nonprofits, Tribal governments, local governments, and broadband service providers) can still register in the Challenge Portal and participate. The Rebuttal Phase will close on October 16, 2024. At that time the state will begin the Final Determination Phase to identify all locations lacking reliable, high-speed broadband that will be eligible for BEAD funding.
